Find the Derivative of a Function Squared

It’s easy to find the derivative of a simple function, especially using the power rule. But how do you find the derivative of a function after it’s been squared… in terms of the derivative of that first (un-squared) function? It’s all confusing at first, but watch to learn how simple it is!

I thought this pencast was kind of confusing, but it did help me in reviewing how to find the derivative of a squared function using the average velocity equation. It seemed useful that he showed us how to substitute and foil things out. It helped simplify the problem which is always a nice thing to know.

Some parts of this pencast were a little confusing, but it was a good review in how to find the derivative of a squared function. It was also a good example to review the definition of the derivative. I still find substituting difficult with more complex problems. A more difficult example may be useful to demonstrate this topic. Overall, I thought it was helpful but I think it could have been a little shorter and more precise.
